Debate: Education and Lifelong Learning Strategy

On 10 March 2022, the Center for Democracy Foundation organised the following debate: Education and Lifelong Learning Strategy.

The debate was organised within the Policies Beneficial to All - Development and Monitoring the Impact of Economic Policies on Society project, with the support of the Open Society Foundation Serbia. The main goals of the project are to contribute to inequality and poverty reduction, the protection of social rights, and mitigation of the negative social effects of the Covid-19 crisis, by advocating for fair socio-economic policies and creating a supportive environment in which the citizenry is included in dialogue concerning public policies.

Partaking in the discussion were: Ivan Ivić (Professor at the University of Belgrade), Vladica Cvetković (academic, Professor at the University of Belgrade), Goran Aleksić (Serbian Association of Employers), Svetlana Uskoković Bogosavljević (National Employment Service Serbia), Sarita Bradaš (CDF). The discussion was moderated by Nataša Vučković, Secretary General of the CDF.

Given that education is the foundation and precondition of any progress, we wished to use this debate as a means by which to review the capacities of Serbia’s education system. Through widespread dialogue we aimed to reach certain conclusions, to create proposals and to come up with possible recommendations on how to improve our education system and increase the awareness of the competitive advantages of lifelong learning.
