Vučković: EU membership perspective must be revitalised
Nataša Vučković, Talk show Među nama, TV Nova S
Nataša Vučković, Secretary General of the Center for Democracy Foundation made a guest appearance on talk show Među nama [in English: Between You and Me] on TV Nova S, where she said that it is important for Western Balkan countries to revitalise the EU membership perspective.
“It is important now that tensions and unresolved issues present within the Western Balkans are prevented from becoming part of the context of the Ukraine crisis and war, issues that may be used to actualise old conflicts or unresolved issues. This is a critical issue for all of us from the Western Balkans, but also for the European Union and the US, who do not wish to see conflicts reignite. It seems right to me, the message that the Western Balkans have to find a way to accelerate the EU integration process.”
It is important we insist on ensuring that the EU should not tell the Western Balkans “European integration perspective exist”, that is, to me, this is no longer enough. “Membership perspective” should be the wording used instead, sending a clear message. We wish to see the EU membership perspective revitalised, said Nataša Vučković.
The talk show focused on Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe, the monument dedicated to Zoran Đinđić in Belgrade, the work of Serbian institutions, etc.
