Vučković: The European Commission Report indicates how Europe views us

The people want to live in a well-organised and safe society and to be free to exercise their rights

“Euro-enthusiasm is on the decline because the integration process is taking too long, and as a result of the atmosphere created by the authorities, which suggests that the EU doesn't really want us, which is an extreme falsehood,” stated Nataša Vučković, Secretary General of the Center for Democracy Foundation, in an interview with FoNet. She characterised the recent European Commission Report as bad news for Serbia.

As highlighted in the Kvaka 23 political programme, the European Commission's assessment of the limited amount of progress in Serbia indicates that the government has taken minimal steps relative to Eurointegration over the past year.

“The report demonstrates how Europe views us,” explained Vučković, highlighting the European Commission's findings on the significant shortcomings in the work of the Serbian Parliament. This signals that our parliament ‘is not good enough’ and changes are necessary.

In assessing Serbia's European perspectives, she emphasised that “we must reignite the people’s passion for this process” so they understand that they truly benefit from it, because they want what’s best for themselves, their families, and a life in a well-organised society.

If they see the benefits of this process, they will say the EU is a good thing for all of us and the achievement of national and state interests are aimed at improving the standard of living, believes Vučković.
