Workshops for the empowerment of women’s organisations and the improvement of gender equality

Mentoring and Monitoring for Real Impact project

During the months of October and November 2023, the Center for Democracy Foundation organised professional workshops within the framework of the Mentoring and Monitoring for Real Impact project. These workshops were aimed at representatives of local women’s organisations and those that support vulnerable social groups.

Topics of the workshops were: Gender Mainstreaming Public Policies; Gender Budgeting; German Feminist Development and Foreign Policy; Women, Peace, and Security in the Republic of Serbia; Gender-Sensitive Language; Application of the Law on Gender Equality; Intersectional Discrimination; Gender and Migration.

Expert workshops were led by: Nevena Petrušić (Faculty of Law, University of Niš, former Commissioner for Protection of Equality); Biljana Maletin (Women's Development Platform of Serbia); Zorana Antonijević (Expert); Bojana Balević (Danish Refugee Council Serbia); Danica Todorov (Women's Development Platform of Serbia); Biljana Stepanov (Center for Support of Women); Maja Sedlarević (Linguist and Politician, former President of the Assembly of Vojvodina); Kosana Beker (FemPlatz).

The CDF, with the support of the German Development Cooperation, is implementing the Mentoring and Monitoring for Real Impact project with the aim of promoting gender equality in Serbia by empowering women's organisations to respond to key gender challenges in society.

We contribute to the promotion of social inclusion in Serbia - improving the provision of social services for women and marginalised groups, economic empowerment of women, anti-discrimination and intersectionality, especially in the domains of unpaid work, gender-based violence, the position of women on the labour market, women with disabilities, etc.

We strengthen the capacities of women's organisations and other civil society organisations to promote gender equality and solve gender challenges in Serbian society at the national and local level.

We work with local organisations, more specifically, with women's organisations and organisations that support vulnerable groups (women/children with disabilities, LGBTI+, Roma women, unpaid labour).

Partner organisations on the project: Gender Knowledge Hub (Novi Sad), Udruženje žena Peščanik (Kruševac), Udruženje građana Ternipe (Pirot), Ženski centar Užice (Užice), Žensko udruženje kolubarskog okruga ŽUKO (Lazarevac).
