Roundtable, Niš: The German Due Diligence Act Opens New Opportunities for Workers in Serbia

The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act is bringing significant changes for companies in Serbia that cooperate with German firms. According to experts, this law not only imposes obligations on employers but also creates opportunities for protecting workers and improving labour standards. At a roundtable held in Niš on 14 March 2025, participants discussed the law’s significance, challenges related to its implementation, and its potential to strengthen human rights in business practices. 

This event is part of an ongoing series of dialogue sessions organised by the Centre for Democracy Foundation within the framework of the Initiative for Global Solidarity (IGS) project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Panellists included: Sanela Bahtijarević, German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ); Nataša Vučković, Center for Democracy Foundation; Vesna Kovačević, Employers’ Union of Serbia; Slavica Petrović, Association of Disenfranchised Workers and Socially Marginalised Citizens; Danijel Dašić, PraviLaw; Miodrag Stanković, Niš Moj Grad (Niš, My City); and Dragoslav Ćirković, PAVLE Company. The discussion was moderated by journalist Ivana Stojanović.

The Initiative for Global Solidarity (IGS) project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German organisation for international cooperation - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
