Speaking on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić, Nataša Vučković of the Center for Democracy Foundation stated that Đinđić had a clear vision of what kind of country Serbia should be. He believed it must become “a modern, democratic, developed and sustainable state, a member of the European Union,” and, as she put it, “respected in the international community for what it does.”

“Zoran Đinđić was a man of action—action grounded in knowledge and competence. He knew how to bring together experts and build capable teams. I think there is so much we can still learn from him. I was always struck by the fact that whenever you came to him with a problem, he would immediately ask if you had a solution or a suggestion for how it could be resolved. That, to me, is Đinđić’s legacy. We must find solutions,” Vučković told Marker, Insajder TV.

Vučković emphasised that some of Đinđić’s ideas remain ‘deeply rooted’ and have become especially visible in recent months.

“He had a profound belief in the individual and the power of the individual—not only to change their own destiny, but also that of their family, neighbourhood, community, and the collective they are part of. He believed in the power of the citizen on the one hand, and in collective action on the other,” said Vučković for Marker.
